“I’m always ready for a new challenge – and that’s exactly what the [OSCAAR] Hot Rod Series is,” says Archibald. “The tour is growing and our team is ready to take a run at the first championship. We know we can win. We’ve got a dominant car and I think we’re going to be tough for any of these other guys to deal with.”
The mercurial star will wade into fulltime Hot Rod Series action after having split the 2017 season between Sunset Speedway and Peterborough Speedway, claiming victories in the Super Stock and Thunder Car division.
“We’re definitely not done with the Super Stock division – I can promise you that,” insists the Barrie, ON veteran. “But the OSCAAR deal is something fresh that has everyone’s attention right now.”
“Our focus will be on winning the championship in the [Hot Rod] but we’ve bought a second car to run as a Super Stock when we aren’t on tour and we should be announcing those plans real soon.”
Archibald made an impression in Hot Rod competition during the tour’s inaugural Sunset Speedway appearance at September’s Velocity 250 weekend. With a dominant feature victory, the former Sunset regular quickly established himself as the proverbial ‘high water mark’ entering 2018.
“That kind of performance is exactly what we expect of ourselves every time we roll into the pits,” says Archibald of his Velocity 250 outing. “Hopefully we can do that every week and clinch the championship next year. That’s our goal. We want to be as dominant as we can.”
“When we set our sights on something – it’s real hard to hold us back,” continues the well-travelled wheelman. “We’re ready to win a lot of races in 2018.”
