INNISFIL, ON – With two Peterborough Speedway victories to his credit already this season, Thunder Car veteran Dan Archibald will return to the speedway this Saturday, July 15th with hopes of tallying his second consecutive win and further closing the gap between he and current points leader Anthony DiBello in the race for the 2017 division championship.
“[Peterborough] doesn’t get any easier to win at – trust me,” says Archibald when asked about his most recent performance on July 8th. “This division has come a long way in a few years. There aren’t any easy laps here. I’m enjoying it. I’m having more fun here than I’ve had in a long time”.
Having migrated his family-run team from Sunset to Peterborough in 2017, Archibald is of the opinion Peterborough’s Thunder Car division is on the rise and ready to prosper in the coming years.
“I think you’re going to see more and more teams headed over here,” shrugs the former Sunset Speedway regular. “The roster is getting better and that’s going to keep attracting guys. You can race hard here without tearing up a race-car. We’re happy with the decision we’ve made to be here and we know that we have a team and a car that can win this championship”.
With one of the strongest cars in the province at present at his disposal and an enviable hot streak forged through the first half of the season, the Innisfil, ON racer maintains his team is as dedicated to their craft as they’ve ever been and hope to secure their first career track championship.
“We don’t work all week in the shop to finish second,” says Archibald. “That’s never our plan. We put the hours in so we can come out and win. We want to be in victory lane and we want to be track champions”.
“We’ve been in the shop since we unloaded on Sunday morning. This team never stops. We’re working so we can come out, win and go back-to-back. Because I know that Anthony [DiBello] and every other driver on the roster is trying to win just like we are”.
