Dan Archibald Carrying Momentum Into Spring Velocity Weekend after OSCAAR Hot Rod Series Podium Finish

Dan Archibald

INNISFIL, ON – Just three weeks after sealing a 3rd place finish in the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series season opener on May 5th, Dan Archibald is set for a return to Sunset Speedway this weekend for Round 2 of the tour as part of the annual Spring Velocity.

While most would point to a podium effort in your first race of the season as a hands-down success, Archibald has never been happy with “good enough”.

“There were parts of what the car did in the opener that we liked – but there was a lot that I knew we could improve on,” says Archibald.

“We don’t come to the track to finish second. We weren’t good enough that night, but we’re going to make sure we’re good enough when you see us next.”

Archibald – a multi-time Sunset Speedway Super Stock festive winner – has confirmed that his team will chase OSCAAR Hot Rod Series points in 2018, with his Peter Schotanus-built chassis holding the team’s primary focus throughout the year.

“The [Hot Rod Series] is our number one goal this season,” explains the Innisfil, ON native. “You might see us in something else once or twice through the Summer – but my main concern is getting the Hot Rod to perform the way we need it to. We’re going to win a lot of races this year – and it’s all going to start this weekend.”

Looking ahead to this weekend, Archibald continues to flash the confidence and self-belief that has made him such a polarizing figure throughout the last decade at speedways across Ontario.

“We aren’t going to let another race get away from us,” says the veteran. “I know my way around Sunset [Speedway] and I know that this car and this team are what the rest of these guys on tour have to worry about all year. We’re going to put it in victory lane on Sunday to send that reminder.”
