SASKATOON, SK – A tremendous performance at Wyant Group Raceway on July 25th Made sure that NASCAR Pinty’s Series freshman Cole Powell would be returning from the national tour’s annual western swing with a notable keepsake – his first career series victory.

“It’s always an incredible feeling to win,” Stated Powell now days removed from his trip to victory lane. “But, when it’s your first one with a new team – in a new series – it puts the experience in a completely new stratosphere.”
“I really couldn’t be happier to have this group of guys around me,” adds the Mount Brydges, ON product. “Ed Hakonson Racing has assembled an incredible group of people. They’re knowledgeable. They’re motivated. We have amazing equipment – and I promise you that we’re just getting started.”
For Powell, the NASCAR Pinty’s Series competition is some of the toughest he’s ever faced – which gives his Round 6 victory even more meaning.
“When you come out and race with these National-level guys and carve out a win – it’s something you can come back and brag about a little bit,” said Powell. “They don’t come easy. These guys like [LP] Dumoulin and DJ [Kennington] and [Alex] Tagliani don’t make mistakes. They aren’t just handing out free passes. It’s an honour to be able to stand toe-to-toe with them and come out a winner.”
The short track ace will return to the team’s base in Uxbridge, ON with Some well-earned confidence in preparation for the final six events of the 2018 schedule – during which he will have several additional opportunities to add to his career NASCAR Pinty’s Series win totals.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator and talking to guys to figure out how to be a better road course racer – so I’m absolutely working on that aspect of my game,” says Powell. “But, with that being said, I think I’m a good short tracker as it is right now and we’ve got a few more short tracks coming up before the year is over.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to get to places like Riverside (International Speedway) and (Autodrome) St. Eustache with these guys,” continues the personable star. “I know that my guys are going to give me a piece that can contend with the best teams on this roster. And I know that I’m going to fight like hell to bring them another win. So, the fans just might get their money’s worth if they keep an eye on us the rest of the season.”
