MOUNT HOPE, ON – Much-hyped prospect Carson Nagy will make his first Sunset Speedway start of the season this weekend, as he looks to impress in Round 1 of the highly-touted Great Lakes Concrete Super Stock Series.
The 50-lap feature event will serve as one of the co-headliners to Sunset’s annual Spring Velocity weekend and is expected to attract a star-studded field marked with some of the best Super Stock talent that Ontario has to offer.
“It’s awesome when you have an event like this that brings together teams that you don’t get to see very often,” says Nagy. “Not only is it going to have everyone’s attention, but it’s also the perfect chance to show us exactly where our team stacks up against the best guys in Ontario. We’re ready to do absolutely everything we can to lay down a great performance.”
And, while Nagy has a loaded schedule ahead of him in 2018, there’s no questioning what the six-race Great Lakes Series represents to the third-year Super Stock competitor.
“I’ve been concentrating on this series all Winter,” admits the Mount Hope, ON native. “It’s a lot to look forward to.”
“This roster will be, without a doubt, the best that anyone is going to put together all year. It’s a stiff test for us. We have an awesome program and I feel like I’ve been improving with every race – so now it’s time to see exactly where we’re at.”
With a bevy of former champions and Crown Jewel winners already committed to the series, Nagy knows that his family-run effort just might be playing the role of ‘underdog’ this weekend. However, armed with an indefatigable will to win, the popular rising star is ready to turn heads.
“This is the kind of race that every racer gets excited for,” smiles the fourth-generation driver. “Big events like this are the ones that everyone remembers.”
“Years from now everyone is still going to remember who won the first Great Lakes Series race – and we want it to be us. These are the races our team gets especially motivated for. The whole weekend is going to have a special feel to it.”
